What to read, what to read?

Found some totally awesome educational resources by the bucket-load. They are truely worth more than a once-over cursory examination. There is more factual, free, intellectual, stimulating, informative, etc. information than you will ever need. Trust us. These places would swallow the Smithsonian and the Louvre as an appetizer . . . |

So what does one choose when looking for something new to read? I / we / they / whomever recommend this list of very interesting stories. They are not what you think they are (as perhaps suggested by their titles). You will be pleasantly rewarded if you take the chance and pick one up at your local bookstore, paper back outlet, or the exceptional www.paperbackswap.com. (a really cool resource for free books, providing you agree to mail a swap to another reader!) The following recommendations are not to be confused with simply a one sided attempt to point you in any direction, rather they are books for finding new and marvelous things to read. Consider them a suggestion from a "highly respected source."
As you explore these unfamiliar stories you will find that there really is a great bunch reading out there. Find something new to read. You will be glad you did. Now, some of these stories will become your favorites. Guaranteed. |
| Written in the 1840’s the story of the Scarlet Pimpernel is certainly an endearing classic. You have heard of this wonder, sort of “rags to riches” story before, but we bet you didn’t know it’s modern incarnation? Give Up? Zorro ! Of Course. Grab a cup-a-java and read this classic online for free! | ![]() |
Break out of the rut. Find something new. You know you love to read anyway, so why not explore other avenues of truly great stories; places you haven’t visited before. When you enjoy reading, it is very much a challenge to find something that you think you will like. Don’t listen to all the critics. They are usually very much focused on what they like anyway; besides, what do they really know. Sometimes reading an unfamiliar story "trounced" by the critics gives a reader a reason to read it anyway; and often they come away from the experience pleasantly surprised. Finding something worthwhile to read, and spend your time on, shouldn’t be an exercise in "seek and find." One should be able to find reliable sources that present honest, worthy, believable recommendations to point a reader to the next great story.

| Most people read for pleasure. People tend to read what they like to read. It takes an Act Of Congress just to changes some people’s minds. Here are offered 10 wonderful stories that you have never heard of. I usually do not read a new book unless it is recommended by someone I truly trust, or it is by an author that I really like. Occasionally, I run out of stuff to read or fail to find just the right title, story line, adventure or just plain interesting something. Then I go on a hunt. These lucky tomes listed here are the result of years of "hunting"; pursuing that great read that you can remember, enjoy, laugh about, like and generally just have a great time escaping into. | ![]() |
| Yeah, we know, escapism is the reason we read for enjoyment. Seems this particular habit started back in ancient Greece with the open air dramas at the ampitheater. Don’t you just love it when the "Deus Ex Machina" shows up. But we digress…(a lover of sci-fi gets lost on tangents all the time) Ok, so we couldn’t keep our list to just ten. Still, you WILL love these stories. |
